What is a Slow Travel Co. Reading Retreat?

Pack an extra suitcase for your TBR.

Between BookTok, celebrity book clubs, and the rise of romantasy (Nesta hive, rise up!), reading is having a cultural moment. So it’s no surprise that reading retreats are also on the rise, becoming “one of the hottest trends in luxury travel.”
So what, exactly, is a reading retreat?
All reading retreats involve cozying up with a good book in a beautiful location while reaping the wellness benefits of a thoughtful, slow-paced hobby. But with Slow Travel Co., it’s so much more than that.
It’s lounging in an infinity pool with the latest bestseller in the south of France. It’s wanting to stay up all night to finish your book — and then actually doing it. It’s meeting other readers, and chatting about the latest chapter over a tasty muffin and mimosa spread. It’s exploring local bookstores and finding international editions of classics. It’s taking a cooking class to make handmade pasta, just like your favorite ‘ship did in that one enemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity romance dog-eared on your bedside table.

Our reading retreats, like our other slow travel retreats, are about slowing down and soaking up the moment. But they’re also about giving your TBR the attention it deserves, cultivating new, bookish connections, and exploring the literary scene of whatever destination you’re traveling to. Plus we promise wherever you go, you’ll find cozy, idyllic places to read — and people who understand that a fade to black in a slow-burn is just wrong. (And who understand what that last sentence meant).
Expect an intimate group of six to 12 people, a book exchange, regional activities or classes, and more fun, bookish touches.
