Join us August 28–September 1, 2027 as we slow down and experience Dubrovnik, Croatia's breathtaking walled city overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Over five days, we'll settle into one carefully selected hotel while exploring centuries of history, exceptional restaurants, dramatic coastal scenery, and the timeless charm that has made Dubrovnik one of Europe's most beloved destinations.
We'll spend our days wandering the city's iconic stone streets, enjoying incredible local cuisine, taking in panoramic views of the Adriatic, and hiking to beautiful waterfalls just beyond the city. Whether you're browsing local shops, discovering Game of Thrones filming locations, or lingering over a leisurely lunch in the Old Town, this Side Quest is designed to help you experience Dubrovnik without ever feeling rushed.
Why Dubrovnik
Known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic," Dubrovnik is one of Europe's most captivating cities. Surrounded by towering medieval walls and overlooking the brilliant blue Adriatic Sea, it's a place where centuries of history, winding stone streets, incredible restaurants, and unforgettable views come together around every corner.
Unlike our Sailing Slow Travel Retreat on the Adriatic, this Side Quest gives us the opportunity to experience Dubrovnik from land. We'll stay in one carefully selected hotel throughout the trip, allowing us to settle in without packing and unpacking while enjoying everything this remarkable city has to offer. From there, we'll wander the UNESCO-listed Old Town, enjoy exceptional Croatian cuisine, discover famous filming locations from Game of Thrones, and venture beyond the city for a scenic waterfall hike.
We recommend this experience for women who enjoy beautiful cities, history, great food, coastal scenery, leisurely walking, and the freedom to experience a destination at a slower pace.

This Side Quest is designed to complement our Croatia Nautical Slow Travel Retreat by giving you the opportunity to experience another side of Croatia after your week at sea. However, you're also welcome to join the Side Quest as a standalone experience if you're simply looking to explore one of Europe's most beautiful coastal cities. We'll discover Dubrovnik's remarkable history, outstanding restaurants, and breathtaking Adriatic scenery while leaving plenty of time to wander, relax, and embrace the slower pace that makes Side Quests so special.

This Side Quest is a great fit for women who enjoy exploring beautiful cities on foot while balancing sightseeing with time to relax. We'll spend our days wandering Dubrovnik's historic neighborhoods, discovering incredible viewpoints, enjoying memorable meals, and experiencing the city's unique blend of history, culture, and coastal beauty.
You don't need to be an experienced traveler, but you should be comfortable walking several miles throughout the day, navigating historic stone streets and staircases, and spending time exploring before returning to the same hotel each evening.
If the idea of medieval streets, Adriatic views, outstanding restaurants, scenic hikes, and discovering the city that brought King's Landing to life sounds like your perfect way to spend a few extra days, this Side Quest is likely a great fit.

Location & Accommodation
We'll stay in one comfortable boutique hotel in Dubrovnik, giving us the perfect home base for exploring Croatia's most iconic coastal city.
By staying in one centrally located hotel for the duration of the trip, you'll be able to settle in, unpack once, and enjoy a slower pace while still having easy access to Dubrovnik's Old Town, waterfront, restaurants, and many of the city's most famous attractions. After each day of exploring, you'll return to the same welcoming accommodations to unwind before another day discovering the beauty of the Adriatic.
Late August is one of the most beautiful times to visit Dubrovnik. Expect warm, sunny days with temperatures typically ranging from 82-88°F (28-31°C) and comfortable evenings around 70-75°F (21-24°C).
Because we'll be exploring primarily on foot, comfortable walking shoes are essential. Dubrovnik's Old Town is filled with polished limestone streets, staircases, and charming alleyways that can be uneven in places.

Croatia uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Dubrovnik, including hotels, restaurants, shops, and attractions, though it's always helpful to carry a small amount of cash for cafés, local markets, or incidental purchases. ATMs are readily available throughout the city if you need additional Euros during your stay.
Travel insurance is highly recommended for this retreat. It goes far beyond covering delayed flights or lost luggage. It can protect you in the event of unexpected cancellations, medical emergencies abroad, travel delays, or other disruptions outside of your control.
