Traveling Solo, But Never Alone: Meet Your Tribe with Slow Travel Co. 🌍✨

Updated: Aug 19

Connect and leave with more than just memories.

If you're a solo female traveler, welcome! You’re in good company. Most of our adventurers travel on their own, but join our slow travel or reading retreats, and you'll quickly discover that solo doesn’t mean alone.

At Slow Travel Co., we believe in traveling with intention. Our retreats take place in sunlit villas, coastal manors, and lush landscapes around the globe. They’re designed so you can move at your own pace, follow your curiosity, and carve out some still moments, all while surrounded by a group of like-minded women who are doing the same. It’s the girl gang version of a Nancy Meyers movie (she's literally the best), sunny, stylish, and soul-nourishing.

What traveling solo with a group looks like:

Reading Retreats

Picture mornings sipping Costa Rican coffee by a pool, afternoons curled up with a favorite book in a hammock, and evenings sharing stories over dinner at a long table. You came alone but by dinner, you’ve likely bonded deeply with someone who also flew solo. Quiet time meets community time, effortlessly.

Slow Travel Retreats

Think flexible schedules in places like Honduras, with optional hikes, local cultural visits, chef-prepared meals, and afternoons for whatever you feel like. Maybe you explore a night market solo, or wander the beach barefoot with a new friend. Either way, you’re making memories.

Why many of us start out solo, and stay connected:

  • Total freedom: Ever want to unplug for a day? Stroll local markets, nap in a hammock, or brunch solo? This is your time.

  • Built-in sponsorship: Most of our members travel solo and know the solo‑female travel toolkit from safety tips, packing hacks, local logistics. We’re basically your travel besties.

  • Effortless friendship: Shared villa meals, group hikes, spontaneous conversations, and connections growing naturally.

The Slow Travel Co. difference:

We curate 5–8 day escapes with intentional design: luxury lodging, optional activities (like kayak tours, wine tastings, cultural experiences), and time to meditate or meander. Your choice. It’s grounded in the slow travel ethos: presence, mindfulness, local immersion, sustainability.

You’re welcome to drift independently or join others for shared experiences. In either case, you’re part of a community that honors purposeful rest and shared adventure. Think of it as your Eat, Pray, Love era… minus the heartbreak and plus way better snacks.

Why This Is the Best Way to Travel Solo (Without Feeling Alone)

  1. Built-in community

You’re surrounded by like-minded women who value meaningful travel, quiet moments, and good conversation. Connection is baked in.

  2. No awkward small talk

Everyone’s here with a similar vibe: slow mornings, warm connections, and zero pressure to perform. You’ll go from strangers to soul sisters before the first sunset.

  3. Choose your pace

Want to nap while others hike? Read while others explore? Great. You do you, knowing the group’s always there when you're ready to reconnect.

  4. Zero logistics stress

We handle the planning, you show up. Airport transfers, meals, schedules, it’s all sorted. You can relax into the experience in style.

  5. Shared experiences, solo space

Every retreat balances group time and free time. Think catamaran rides with others, afternoon hammock naps on your own.

  6. Instant safety net

Traveling solo can feel risky, but not here. With trusted hosts, safe accommodations, and a crew of smart, capable women, you’ll feel safe and free.

  7. Freedom + friendship

Explore on your own in the morning, grab a spontaneous cocktail with a new friend in the evening. It’s independent travel—with a side of sisterhood.

  8. Come solo, leave connected

So many guests keep in touch, plan future trips together, and even reunite. You’re not just booking a retreat—you’re joining a travel circle.
